Resolution: In SBS 2008 media with Server 2008 SP2 included, SBS 2008 migration preparation tool has been updated. SBS 2008 SP2 included migration setup routine will pause, resulting in message above, if detected any of following conditions: · updated Source Tool from new media hasn’t completed successfully on source server being joined · updated Source Tool from new media hasn’t completed successfully in last 21 days. Therefore, you must install SourceTool.MSI from new media and successfully run updated migration preparation tool on source server in order to proceed.
1. Take out SBS 2008 SP2 DVD of destination server and load into Source Server. 2. Navigate to <DVD Drive>:\Tools and install SourceTool.MSI on Source Server. 3. Once SourceTool.MSI installed on Source Server, take out SBS 2008 SP2 DVD and load into destination server. 4. On Source Server, run new source tool by clicking Start, Programs, Windows Small Business Server Tools, Windows Small Business Server 2008 Migration Preparation Tool. 5. To ensure that you’re prepared for best possible migration experience, Microsoft recommends to install most recent updates. These updates're ONLY for the Migration Preparation Tool and will include newer health checks in future updates. 6. Remember, this tool will now be mandatory when using updated SBS media, so make a point of making that backup of source server also a mandatory step. 7.
