Microsoft and the Windows Phone 7 team released the final Windows Phone 7 developer tools. “App built with previous version will fail app certification in Marketplace. When you submit app, it take about five days to pass or fail certification, you can check the status at any time at developer portal. For more info on passing certification, see Windows Phone 7 Marketplace policies,” said Microsoft.
WinP7 tool includes Visual Studio 2010 Express for WinP, Windows Phone Emulator, Expression Blend 4 for WinP, XNA Game Studio 4.0, and Bing Maps software development kit (SDK) control. “WinP7 tool installer is smart enough to download only what you need, and tools will work with existing VS2010 and Blend 4 installations.”
Also releasing separate Silverlight for Windows Phone Toolkit, which’ll include six controls released under Microsoft MS-PL open-source license. These supplemental controls do things like handle “gesture events,” like tap, double-tap, hold, drag, etc. Others include date picker and time picker
- Windows Phone Capability Detection Tool detects phone capabilities used by your app. When you submit your app to Marketplace , Microsoft performs a code analysis to detect the phone capabilities required by your app and then replaces the list of capabilities in the app manifest with the result of this detection process. This tool performs same detection process and allows you to test your app using same list of phone capabilities generated during the certification process. For more info, see How to: Use the Capability Detection Tool.
- Windows Phone Connect Tool allows you to connect your phone to a PC when Zune software isn’t running and debug apps that use media APIs. For more info, see How to: Use the Connect Tool.
