Microsoft postponed the release of Windows CardSpace 2.0. “This’s due to number of recent & exciting developments in technologies such as U-Prove and Open ID that can be used for Information Cards and other user-centric identity applications. We’re postponing the release to get additional customer feedback & engage with industry on these technologies. We’ll communicate additional details at a later time. As part of our continued investment in these areas, we’ll deliver Community Technology Preview in Q2 2010 that’ll enable the soon-to-be-released Active Directory Federation Services 2.0 (AD FS 2.0) in Windows Server to issue Information Cards. Microsoft remains committed in development of digital identity technologies, interoperable identity standards, claims-based identity model, and Information Cards. AD FS 2.0 is on track for release shortly. We also continue to actively participate in industry groups such as the Information Card Foundation, the OpenID Foundation, and standards bodies such as OASIS.” notes Microsoft.
