Gaiaware now Gaia Ajax widgets is running a Gaia Programming Contest, which is a Gaia’s Green Initiative contest about creating a piece of software that will serve as a portal for solving the Earth‘s major problems.
You can build an Ajax Application that will serve as a meeting place for people dedicated to solving environmental issues like for instance the Global Warming problem, and win 10000 Euro. All entries must be available for being put out as GPL software at either SourceForge.net or some similar Open Source hosting service. The software also must use Gaia Ajax Widgets in one form or another. Also no Close Source dependencies can be used which means that the end product must be compilable on Mono.
Miguel de Icaza the founder of Gnome and Mono, Eirik Chambe-Eng the founder of Trolltech and Qt and Dag Andersen the author of “The 5th step” in addition to Thomas Hansen from Gaiaware will be deciding the winner before the 1st of May 2008.
