Bloomberg is reporting that Apple is ramping up to release the white iPhone 4 by month's end, after a 10- month delay.
According to three people familiar with the matter, Apple has yet to publicize its plans, said that the white version of the iPhone 4 would be available on both AT&T and Verizon. The release was stalled as Apple resolved manufacturing challenges, including paint that peeled under heat, one person said. Certainly, this won't go over well with consumers when Apple releases a new iPhone this summer as per usual.
Adding a white model to the black-only lineup may help spur demand before Apple can release the next generation of its top- selling product.
However, Apple, isn't planning to unveil a new iPhone (Phone 5) at its June Worldwide Developers Conference, the occasion for previous launches, two people familiar with the matter said. Instead, it may introduce the next iPhone in September.
After releasing the iPhone 4 in June, Apple announced the delay of a white version because of unspecified manufacturing trouble. Production was also delayed because of complications with a sensor used in the device, one of the people said.
Phil Schiller, Apple's senior vice president of marketing, hinted last month that a white model would be available soon, writing on Twitter it would be on sale by Spring.
Apple has yet to comment on the arrival of the white iPhone 4.
