Americans spend nearly a quarter of their time online on social networking sites and blogs. According to Nielsen research "Americans spend a 36% online time in communicating and networking across social networks, blogs, personal email and instant messaging, up from 15.8% just a year ago (43% increase).
Nielsen said, mobile e-mail usage increased 4.2% to encompass 41.6% of U.S. mobile Internet time. Social networking did experience a much larger 28% growth in the mobile space, but that activity still only makes up 10% of users' time on the mobile Web.
