New version adds support for new ATI and Nvidia graphics chips. VistaAeroSwitch has been well received and is even about to appear on Italy's PC Professionale magazine cover disc shortly.
There's been a little bit of confusion with some users thinking they can use this tool on Windows Vista Home Basic. Please note that despite some rumours on the web, Vista Home Basic does not include the Aero interface so this tool does not work on that version of Vista or the Starter version either.
It works on Home Premium, Business and Ultimate. While VistaAeroSwitch will turn on Aero in systems with less than 1GB of memory, weve not tested it below 512MB of memory so if youre hoping to turn Aero on with less than that, we cannot guarantee the results.
That said, it should work but you may find that Vista comes back to you and says it's turning it off again, particularly if you try to load up a number of applications and your system only has 256MB of memory.
We've had some requests from users to add in various other DirectX9 GPUs that we missed so heres the newly support list:
- ATI Radeon HD 2400-series
- ATI Radeon HD 2600-series
- ATI Radeon HD 2900-series
- Nvidia GeForce 8400M GS
- Nvidia GeForce 8500-series
- Nvidia GeForce 8600-series
- Nvidia GeForce 8800-series
- SiS M670GX
