Pandemic 1.0, a transmedia storytelling experience, unites film, mobile and online technologies, props, social gaming, and data visualization, enabling audiences to step into the shoes of the pandemic protagonists anytime during the day. "Mission Control is the only way to learn where you stand in the face of the spreading pandemic," reads the synopsis of Pandemic 1.0.
Vectorform focused on designing and building a natural user interface (NUI) set up to run on top of Microsoft Surface.
It's because of Vectorform that Sundance attendants can literally witness a pandemic via the Mission Control, with access to details such as live data, immersive media and the social grid.
Additional technologies used in creating the Pandemic 1.0 experience involve Android 2.3 running on 50 Nexus S devices, but also near field communication (NFC) technology from NXP Semiconductors as well as elements of coordinated health systems built after Medic Mobile's 4636 Project.
