Google is now carrying ads from someone else's ad network -- Twitter in this case, as Promoted Tweets from Twitter are beginning to appear in Google's real-time search results. This's the first time that Google has allowed any form of advertising from a service other than its AdWords network to appear in its results.
Google paid Twitter $15 million in October to include real-time tweets in its search results.
Promoted tweets are regular tweets that businesses or organizations can pay to give prominent position in its Trends area and above other tweets in Twitter searches on that topic.
Twitter and Google are splitting revenues 50/50.
