Twitter search results are now wrapped up in more social context tailored for you, highlighting "the photos, videos and news shared on Twitter in the search results page" on twitter.com and updated mobile apps for iPhone and Android.
Here are new features release to Twitter search results page:
View photos and videos: Now, when you search for a person, an event or a hashtag, "you can now see a grid of the most relevant media above the stream of Tweets," informs Twitter.
headlines and photos: Photos and article summaries now automatically show previews to give you a bird's eye view on what's happening. Also, you can see media instantly in search results stream on iPhone and Android.
Understand context: Now you can see context like who favorited or retweeted right there in the Tweet.
In the update iPhone and Android app, Twitter now make it easier to see content when you check Discover or search to find out what's happening.
In the past few months we've expanded the Tweet so you can enjoy more with 140 characters. You can now view article and photo previews from more than 2,000 partners or view photos and videos in beautiful fullscreen.
Discover popular Tweets: A personalized stream of tweets that are tailored to users' interests are now in the Discover tab. Just tap "View all Tweets" to see a continuous stream of news, photos and other stories shared by the people in your network. Additionally, for easier engagement, article, photo, and video previews are now present in the tab.
For this new release, Twitter completely re-done the backend and user interface to take advantage of Twitter cards.
"Using Twitter cards, you'll now see Tweets in Discover with links to news and photos rather than the former story previews which were not interactive. And supporting Twitter cards on the backend means we can more directly improve the user experience in our native apps, too. You'll see content from cards partners display as a previews in the stream, so that you'll get headlines and publication names for story summaries and photo previews rather than shortened URLs," explains twitter.
"All of this adds up to fewer taps, fewer screen views and more content for you to enjoy, faster." Of course, you can tap through to the details view for richer story summaries, bigger photos and the ability to reply, favorite or retweet Tweets.
Improved search: Now at the top of the scren of your search results you will see a stream of photos that are relevant to your query so you can see what's happening from multiple perspectives. You can also understand what's resonating in your network with context like who favorited a Tweet. Additionally, like with the updated Discover tab, media previews will be present.
Account management: Password reseting and follower management (for those with private Twitter accounts) are present for the first time in the iOS app.
Finally, Twitter is introducing the "ability to email a Tweet directly from twitter.com" ---- a feature that will be rolling out to everyone over the coming weeks.
"You can email a Tweet to anyone, whether they use Twitter or not, right from your Twitter stream or from the details view of any Tweet. Just click on the "More" icon next to the reply, retweet and favorite buttons in order to email a Tweet to anyone you know," the company blogged.
You can also add your own comment, and we'll send an email with your comment and the Tweet together.
