Chris Klimas has released Tweebox 1.0, a browser-based application that’s used to create interactive stories. It’s a fairly simple and unique application that lets you write with your favortie word prcessor or text editor, with all the tool you’re used to as a writer. The Jonah template that comes with Tweebox gives you a stripped down template suitable for stories, where you don’t want people skipping ahead, and a bunch of handy macros for writing interactive stories right off the bat.
Twee reads and writes files on the user’s computer, it’s meant to be run locally. Nevertheless, it uses a lot of Ajax technology. It uses moo.fx’s old Ajax class to read files, browser-specific functions glommed from various places to write the files, and JSON saved to a cookie to encapsulate project data. It requires IE6+ or a Mozilla-based browser, but the files it creates can be viewed in any modern browser.
To get start with Twee, download Tweebox 1.0, a compiler for Twee files that runs right in the browser.
