Microsoft’s Exchange team today ping about a problem that impacts Exchange management tools on servers running Exchange 2010 on Windows Server 2008 SP2, when installed “KB 2449742: MS11-028: Description of the security update for the .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 and the .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 on Windows Vista Service Pack 2 and Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2: April 12, 2011.”
The symptoms of the problem are:
- Exchange Management Shell doesn’t start
- Exchange Management Console doesn’t start
- There might be a crash in Exchange Mailbox Replication Service (it’s not clear yet if this’s related)
- Event Viewer might have trouble opening
