Kevin Parr, a Principal Technology Specialist focusing on Microsoft’s System Center technology solutions covering Enterprises in Michigan, published a blog post revealing the availability of the new System Center Marketplace on May 19, 2011, but the announcement has been pulled since then.
Here’s what Parr said:
“Microsoft is proud to announce the launch of the new System Center Marketplace. This web-based property replaces the current System Center experience on Microsoft Pinpoint and is now the one-stop place to find all things System Center: management packs, configuration packs, orchestration packs, PRO packs, products and System Center extensions as well as services offered by Microsoft and partners within the System Center Alliance.”
Parr explained that the move is designed to streamline the process associated with kicking System Center up a notch for customers. In this regard, the company has worked to simplify the manner in which extensions and enhancements to System Center can be found and leveraged.
While the PinPoint site also offered the resources, the introduction of the System Center Marketplace is a move set up to centralize all the offerings for the management suite in a single location, making them readily accessible to customers.
With the enhanced search functionality and simplified navigation customers will now be able to:
- “Search the new marketplace with results that are entirely System Center related
- See customer-entered ratings, release dates and versions in one easy to navigate experience
- Easily find extensions to specific System Center products by filtering on that individual product.”
