StumbleUpon, founded in 2001 by software engineers, Garrett Camp, Geoff Smith and Justin LaFrance, and later purchased by Ebay, Inc. in 2007, has become the raze in Social Media sites with over two million registered users.
StumbleUpon was the first of its kind, allowing a user to select specific keyword tags and then be randomly directed to web sites meeting that criteria from a simple click of the toolbar. With the added functionality of social bookmarking, users are given the ability to tag and submit their favorite sites, allowing you to keep them available for later reference and share them with friends.
To get you started with StumbleUpon, you’ve to install its toolbar that only supports Firefox, thus users of other browsers, either have to download & install Firefox to use it, or leave it, as there’s no toolbar available for Opera, Safari, Internet Explorer etc. browsers.
Fortunately StumbleUpon has a nifty demo feature that lets you stumble pages using a virtual toolbar. All you have to do is enter http://www.stumbleupon.com/demo/#url= into your browser's URL window, and then add the site that you want to start at. For example, http://www.stumbleupon.com/demo/#url=http://www.ditii.com/.
You should now see a virtual toolbar with all the features of the regular StumbleUpon toolbar. But since this is just a demo, you can't actually vote on sites or submit new sites. And there's no way to enter your account information. But you can hit the stumble button as many times as you like. [Downloadsquad]
