Google Analytics 360 client can now do almost real-time analysis and take action, as Google now allow streaming of data to BigQuery export, as often as every 10 minutes into the Google Cloud.
This means, users opting-in to streaming Analytics data into BigQuery will now see data delivered to their selected BigQuery project as fast as every 10 minutes i.e. up to six times per hour. While, those who don’t opt-in will continue with data arriving about every eight hours, says google.
The new export though will send almost all of data i.e. directly sent to Google Analytics is included. However, “integration sources” (data pulled from AdWords and DoubleClick) is exempted from the new streaming functionality, because this data require additional features like fraud detection to operate, so it’s purposefully delayed, writes google.
So, why opt-in is required? According to Google, it’s because of the $0.05 per GB costing of the Cloud Streaming Service that the new export feature uses. However, if you don’t opt-in, your account will continue to run as it does now with no additional cost.
To get started, you first need to opt-in to start receiving frequent data feeds — to do this, just visit Google Analytics BigQuery linking page in “Property Admin” section and then choose from the following option as shown in the pciture below:
“When streaming data is combined with BigQuery’s robust programmatic and statistical tools, predictive user models can capture a greater understanding of your audience ― and help you engage those users where and when they’re ready to convert. That means more sales opportunities and better returns on your investment,” google explains.
