Last week, Google with Eric Schmidt hosted a event called "Solve for X" for experienced entrepreneurs, innovators and scientists from around the world. The event focused on proposing and discussing technological solutions to some of the world's greatest problems.
The Solve for X gathering, is a concept that Google champion internally and that they believe will inspire many others: technology moonshots. "Moonshots live in the gray area between audacious projects and pure science fiction; they are 10x improvement, not 10%," informed Astro Teller & Megan Smith, co-hosts of Solve for X.
Adding, the hosts said "Moonshots can come from anywhere--people of all ages and places, companies, academia, inspired experts, enthusiastic newcomers, and often from accidental discoveries."
"Solve for X is a place to hear and discuss radical technology ideas for solving global problems. Radical in the sense that the solutions could help billions of people. Radical in the sense that the audaciousness of the proposals makes them sound like science fiction. And radical in the sense that there is some real technology breakthrough on the horizon to give us all hope that these ideas could really be brought to life," reads the site description.
