In the Android apps news, First Facebook for Android 1.9 update released today now includes performance improvements as well as shortcuts to share photos and messages faster. "Now you can share photos and messages right from your home screen. Messenger and Camera shortcuts will appear in your app tray after updating your Facebook for Android app," Facebook announced.
"With Facebook for Android you can share and stay connected with your friends. The app helps you connect with your friends and share on the go. Upload a photo, keep up with friends' photos and status updates, look up a phone number, and more - right from your Android device."
Android 1.9 also comes with many of the messenger features found in the standalone Messenger app including:
- Mobile/online status
- If you have already started a group conversation, you can add people on the fly
- Your contact list sorted by the people you interact with frequently
Second, Flickr Android app update now comes with "batch upload." "Select as many photos as you want from the photo gallery on your Android phone. Easily add titles/descriptions, set privacy levels and add to sets, then Upload!," Flickr posted.
Flickr says they've also added the upload queue to help ensure your photos get up to Flickr even during the weak signal. You can also track the photos while they are uploading. "If your signal cuts out and interrupts your upload, we'll try again once we get connection or you can manually start it later," flickr said.
