It appears that Research In Motion is working on a ‘BlackBerry Media Box' similar to Apple TV.
According to a source "RIM is working on just that a media hub. The media hub's codename is BlackBerry Cyclone!," reports NerdBerry. Codenamed "BlackBerry Cyclone", the new device is a media hub, similar in concept to Apple TV. Connecting to a display via HDMI, the Cyclone will be WiFi-enabled, allowing it to pull content from the web and from other devices on the same local network. Native Netflix and YouTube streaming support are also expected to be key features.
The BlackBerry Cyclone will include the following functions and features:
- Of course it will connect to your TV via HDMI
- WiFI enabled
- Access to media devices on the WiFI network
- More to come!
BlackBerry Cyclone which looks like a larger version of BlackBerry Presenter. The release of the BlackBerry Cyclone will be later this fall.
