Richer Visualizations and Analytical Functions Added to Google Data Studio

Data Studio adds new Pivot tables, Coordinated coloring, Google Analytics Sampling indicator, and more.

Data Studio team to allow richer visualization and new views on data, on Wednesday, highlighted some of the recent new features launched recently, including: Pivot tables, Coordinated coloring, Google Analytics Sampling indicator, and more.

Pivot Tables

Using the new Pivot tables users can narrow down a large data set or analyze relationships between data points. Additionally, these tables reorganize user's dimensions and metrics for quickly summarizing data and help see relationships that might otherwise be hard to spot.

Coordinated Coloring

When a user creates visualizations, Data Studio automatically binds colors to data using coordinated coloring, so that color:data pairs stay consistent between visualizations and when filtering.

This feature is default to be on for all new reports as well as old reports.

Google Analytics Sampling Indicator

Data Studio now shows a sampling indicator in reports when a component contains Google Analytics samples data in order to provide accurate reporting in a timely manner. See an example GA Sampling indicator in this screeshot:

Field Reports Editing

Recently a number of new options are added into the Data Studio reporting that allow you to: Rename fields, Change aggregation types, Change semantic types, Change date functions, and Apply % of total, difference from total, or percent difference from total to a metric from within the report.
