Qualcomm has announced their new MSM8x60 chipset, a dual core processor 1.5GHzz supported on the Windows Phone platform along with several others including: Android, Brew Mobile Platform, and HP webOS 2.0.
Under Qualcomm's new chipset, users purchasing new phones could see those specifications increase with two cores up to 1.5GHz for fasting processing and response.
The MSM8x60 chipset platform consists of the MSM8260 and MSM8660 and uses low-power 45nm process technology for higher integration and performance. This platform also includes the APQ8060 processor which is targeted for tablets and large display devices without the need for a WWAN modem.
The chipset is featured in the new HTC EVO 3D, Snapdragon MDP, and HP TouchPad which has the following details:
- Dual Scorpion-cores up to 1.5GHz
- Adreno 220 GPU
- 1080P video and playback
- HDMI mirroring
- Dolby 5.1
- 3D capturing and playback
- 16MP dual-camera support
