Play Minecraft in Virtual Reality Using Xbox Wireless Controller and Samsung Gear VR

Xbox Wireless Controller support coming to Samsung Gear VR starting with 'Minecraft: Gear VR Edition.'

The new Xbox Wireless Controller will soon be compatible with controller-enabled games on Samsung Gear VR.

Starting with "Minecraft: Gear VR Edition," users will be able to dive wirelessly right inside the world of Minecraft and build, explore and battle mobs. Additionally, this weekend at MINECON, you can get first hands-on experience playing Minecraft: Gear VR Edition with Xbox Wireless Controller in the Minecraft Game Lounge Oculus demo section.

Beyond Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, team said the work is under way to make new Xbox Wireless Controller compatible with all controller-supported Gear VR games and future games as well. And, once available, fans by updating their controller will be able to play.

In addition, broader support across all Gear VR controller-enabled titles like "Herobound," "Spirit Champion," "Omega Agent" and "End Space" will be available in the coming months.

This new wireless controller, team said will be supported by devices such as Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy s6 edge+, Galaxy S6, and Galaxy S6 edge.

To start playing Minecraft: Gear VR Edition, first install latest update on your wireless controller, and then install October update to the game in the Oculus App on your favorite Gear VR device, and finally connect your controller with Bluetooth and play.

"Following a game update in October to supported Android devices, your new Xbox Wireless Controller can be paired to work directly through your Gear VR device for use with Minecraft: Gear VR Edition," writes Xbox team.
