Microsoft launched the Platform Update for Windows Vista beta – a set of runtime libraries for IT developers to target both Windows 7 and Windows Vista. It’ll be available through Windows Update, to participate in public beta, click here; the platform includes:
- Windows Ribbon and Animation Manager Library is a command framework that for developers to quickly and easily create rich ribbon experiences.
- Windows Graphics, Imaging, and XPS Library leverage the latest advancements in modern graphics technologies for gaming, multimedia, imaging and printing applications.
- Windows Automation API allows accessibility tools and test automations to access Windows user interface in a consistent way across operating system versions.
- Windows Portable Devices Platform supplies infrastructure to standardize data transfers between an application and a portable device.
Note: Windows Automation API’ll also be made available as a separate download for PCs running Windows XP.
Also announced Remote Desktop Connection 7.0 (RDC7) client for Windows XP and Windows Vista. And the release candidate of Windows Management Framework is also available. A collection of tools to help IT Professionals manage a mixed environment of Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP PCs and includes: Windows PowerShell 2.0; Windows Remote Management 2.0; Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS 4.0)
