Online ID entrepreneur Dick Hardt left Microsoft

Dick Hardt, an OpenID Foundation board member and online identity entrepreneur, has quit Microsoft. “‘Year of Darkness’, he didn’t blog much during the past year of his working with Microsoft, wasn’t active in OpenID community, and didn’t do any public speaking,” explained in his announcment post. “Having never worked in a large company, working at Microsoft was an invaluable experience for first hand knowledge on how large companies work,” he writes. “I definitely got experience. More than I anticipated.” Hardt, who was from Vancouver, B.C., notes in the comments on that post that he’ll be moving to San Francisco, “to the center of the web action.” On his Identity 2.0 site, he writes that he’ll be able to publish more frequently on identity, privacy and related issues now that he’s “not constrained by Microsoft policies.”
