Microsoft announced that the Office Web Apps are now available in more than 150 countries! The Web Apps let users view, edit and share Office documents from any computer with a browser and internet connection. This includes viewing, editing, and sharing Office document attachments in Hotmail.
The 150 new locations include India, Indonesia, Israel, Malaysia, Mexico, Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, and Thailand.
Additionally they will be rolling out all remaining markets: in Central and South America, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela.
Here's a brief history of OWA worldwide availability:
- June 7, 2010: OWA launched in the U.S., Canada, UK, and Ireland.
- September 23, 2010: added Australia, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Russia, and Switzerland.
- December 6, 2010: added China, Denmark, Finland, Hong Kong SAR, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Taiwan, and Turkey.
The Web Apps are a great companion to Office 2010 and Office for Mac 2011. And remember they are free to use. They've saved us more than a few times while out of the office making last minute edits.
