Google Maps 5.0 for Android released in December 2010, ushered in the next-generation of mobile maps where you rotate, tilt, and zoom in and out of 3D maps. Earlier last week, Google added support for 3D buildings in a number of South African cities, including Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.
Now, "when you're zoomed in on these cities in Google Maps for Android, you can drag down with two fingers to tilt the map and see a skyline spring to life with 3D buildings," informs Google Africa.
You'll also now see 3D buildings on Google Maps on the desktop for these cities.
Here's the full list of South African cities that now have 3D buildings:
- Cape Town
- Port Elizabeth
