Tecmo’s Ninja Gaiden, the martial arts-inspired action game is en route to the Nintendo DS, with the new game to be called Ninja Gaiden: Dragon Sword.
With the game now official we also get further insights into what the developers have planned. For example, we’re told you’ll hold the DS like a book (sideways, basically), and use the stylus to control Ryu through the game world. Drawing special characters will cast spells, double tapping will jump, and slashing motions will produce different kinds of attack. The buttons, meanwhile, will provide defensive moves. No word on a release date yet, sadly, or indeed what the premise of the new title will be. If indeed we need such a thing.
“The Nintendo DS will allow gamers to control Master Ninja Ryu Hayabusa slash for slash with the use of the DS Stylus in a way never possible in previous iterations of the game,” commented the developer’s Yoh Watanbe. “Dragon Sword will be the definitive ninja title for all DS owners to experience.”
