Windows Insiders with Gmail accounts can now enjoy many of the same new features already available in Windows 10 Mail & Calendar apps to users of Outlook.com accounts or Office 365 email address. Those features include: easily tracking travel and shipping deliveries, making emails more actionable, easily track favorite sports events, faster search and more.
With these update, latest features such as “Focused Inbox and richer experiences for travel reservations and package deliveries” will be available to Gmail account. But, there will be no change in experience on Gmail.com or apps from Google.
To start syncing a copy of email, calendar and contacts to Microsoft Cloud, you will need to give permission. “This will allow new features to light up, and changes to update back and forth with Gmail–such as creation, edit or deletion of emails, calendar events and contacts,” the team says.
The new improved experience will roll out gradually to users with Gmail accounts in Windows Insiders program over the next several weeks. Once it’s available to your account, “a prompt to update Gmail account settings” will appear. Howerver, if you miss the first prompt, a second reminder will appear again in a few weeks.
Microsoft is also seeking users feedback on this update and other Mail & Calendar features, you can go to Settings -> Feedback in the app.
