An upcoming wave of improvements to Office 365 Delve application, offering new personalized search experience, along with improvements coming to Delve, all powered by the Microsoft Graph are revealed.
Microsoft uses Artificial Intelligence (AI) to provide unique, personalized experiences guiding users to the right emails, files, sites, videos, news articles and more – “in context with where they are already working,” says the team.
As Office 365 content indexing service is growing steadily at 10 percent month-over-month (MOM) –personalized search coming to a Delve search box, will provide following two new experiences:
- After clicking and before type anything in the Search text box, a list of items based on most recent work appear. And, as you type, the results will refine related to keywords entered in search box.
- Once a Return key is pressed, the discovery phase invokes and present most relevant information. For example, “documents by people you work with will typically rank higher than documents by other people,” explains Office team. Similarly, “documents on SharePoint sites you work on would be ranked higher.”
In addition, Microsoft Graph itself is begin updated, and now also derives intelligence from Office 365 Groups documents, and modern attachments from Outlook and more.
The Graph results are also now returned faster with improved success rates and content freshness within search results. “Relevance context is now pre-processed and sent along with the query on the search index. All the while maintaining admin and users requirement and expectation of the highest level of data security and privacy,” the team writes.
For those not aware, “Delve, which is based on the AI-assisted Microsoft Graph, is an Office 365 application designed to surface content and people in your organization quickly and efficiently, to help you get more work done.” “Delve can highlight not only the people you’re most likely to interact with in your org chart, but also the documents they’re handling, projects you’re collaborating on and other useful information.”
The first wave of updates, for Delve, rolling out begining next week to First Release customers. While further expansion of the app will continue in the coming weeks and months, “will enable intelligent search within additional Office 365 applications like SharePoint home in Office 365 and mobile apps, OneDrive for Business and more.”
Microsoft says, a worldwide rollout for all Office 365 customers is scheduled for the summer.
