SNK Playmore have once again been speaking of the joys of the Wii console this week, re-confirming that a raft of Neo Geo classics are en route to the Virtual Console service which allows retrograde hits to be reanimated on the new machine.
SNK chief Ben Herman has informed US website IGN that a series of Neo Geo revivals should be available from ‘mid-summer’, and that a release across all regions around the same time is likely.
Good news most certainly, though the new titles won’t be quite as cheap as present offerings, coming in a little more expensive than SNES games – presently available for 800 Wii points. Metal Slug and King of Fighters will not be among the first batch, is all Herman would confirm on scheduling.
“We will have content on Xbox Live Arcade as well, and we are talking with Sony about getting some of our properties onto their new Home network,” Herman explained. “Nintendo basically came to us and wanted to include the Neo Geo on the Virtual Console which of course is very exciting for us.”
