NASA's Curiosity Mars Rover for the first time since its last month's launch checked in on Mars, marking the first Foursquare check-in ever on another planet and the "second check-in in space!." Carl Sagan would be proud.
The company notes, that throughout its 23-month exploration of Mars, "the Mars Rover will continue to check in and share updates on Foursquare."
"Keep an eye out for a Curiosity-themed badge later this year, and don't forget to check out the NASA page in the meantime for more space exploration fun," 4sq blogged.
To explore the Red Planet alongside NASA, simply like the Mars Rover's page. "While on Mars, the rover will conduct several experiments to try and track down traces of past microbial life, and share pictures and updates along the way," foursquare said.
Foursquare said that when you spend £10, you can get £10 when you check in at the London Restaurant Festival & swipe your Amex card.
"During the London Restaurant Festival from October 1 to 15, Amex Cardmembers who check in on Foursquare at participating restaurants will get a £10 credit on their statement when they spend £10 or more," the company blogged.
To redeem your £10, "check in at one of the over 500 festival restaurants, tap 'Load to Card' on the special screen, and pay with your American Express Card. No need to show your phone to the waiter - you'll see the credit on your statement within a few days," informs 4sq.
Note: only one credit will be awarded per person.
Finally, Foursquare is also gearing up for another awesome year on campus along with revamping its campus ambassador program, the company has also kicked off the semester with the new Back to School badge.
Take a look at some of the amazing ways students and schools are already using Foursquare.
And there's more on the way. We had an incredible turnout at our booth (and foursquare court!) during this year's CollegeFest in Boston, and schools are using Foursquare to make Homecoming 2012 especially epic - it's going to be a great fall semester.
