MXI has announced two new portable security solutions, known as Stealth MXP. The 8 GB Stealth MXP and Stealth MXP Passport secure drives allow users to carry an entire operating system image, along with a fully functional working environment.
Despite the fact that the two Stealth drives are hardware appliances, it's the software that does all the tricky job of emulating the portable desktop. The drives are secured using a biometric fingerprint sensor, that lets legit users access data stored on the drives.
According to a MXI report, theft of proprietary information stored on mobile devices accounted for the loss of over $2,345,000, and especially affected the government-related sectors.
"Mobility has become a norm throughout the entire organizational workforce and it has lead to increased demands for higher capacity USB-based flash drives to securely carry various types of data," said Julian Reusing, MXI Security’s President, North America.
The two 8 GB drives allow users to install the entire operating system, that can be used at the workplace, at home or even on public computers, without having to fear about keyloggers or other data interception software. The drives are equipped with FIPS 140-2 Level 2 portable security solutions, in order to keep data secure, even if the drive is lost or stolen.
Both Stealth MXP and Stealth MXP Passport editions are available in a rugged liquid metal case as well as in a plain, plastic shell with a proprietary sliding mechanism that protects the biometric fingerprint sensor.
