Is it a game? What actually is it? No one really seems sure, but the commercial and critical successes of Rare's Viva Pinata are undeniable, so much so that Bill Gates recently waxed lyrical about the 360's great new game 'aimed at little girls'. Indeed, speculation is even mounting that new games are being planned, including the possibility of a Viva Pinata outing on the Nintendo DS.
I think it's fair to say that we're going to continue to invest in that property," Shane Kim of Microsoft Game Studios told 1UP.com last week. "Whether that is in the form of a sequel, a product line extension or through merchandising, whatever the case may be, that's something that we're going to stick with."
Kim also said that Viva Pinata and Kameo on the DS would 'make a lot of sense'. Which is a little cryptic. Although VP has flagged in PAL regions post-launch, a resurgence is predicted with new downloadable content and a TV cartoon series yet to launch.
