Microsoft announced the WebsiteSpark Program initiative designed to create a partner network and help enable business growth for professional Web development and design companies with up to 10 employees and owners. Microsoft says the only cost for participation is a $100 fee, to be paid when companies exit the program. A variety of Microsoft partners, including hosting companies, are expected to offer discounted services to WebsiteSpark companies. Microsoft is hoping to get between 15,000 and 25,000 firms involved in the WebsiteSpark program in the first year, said Mitra Azizira. In addition, Microsoft released the Web Platform Installer 2.0 and the Windows Web Application Gallery 2.0, furthering the success of the Microsoft Web Platform. Together, these initiatives make it easier for Web professionals to build richer, more compelling Web experiences. Microsoft’s WebsiteSpark Program is now available worldwide.
