During the SharePoint Virtual Summit Tuesday, Microsoft introduced numerous innovations for SharePoint and OneDrive including powerful integrations across Office 365, Windows and Azure.
Coming this summer, these innovations includes the ability to share Office 365 files directly from File Explorer on Windows and Finder on Mac. Building upon OneDrive Files On-Demand, this sharing experience simplifies sharing a file or folder with specific people or send a link to anyone inside or outside organization. In addition, link access can be control and you can easily view and modify permissions.
New SharePoint communication sites (intranet sites) can now be easily created for reaching out a broad audience across organization, and the ability to use Microsoft PowerApps to easily create custom forms that surface in the context of a SharePoint list or library.
Additionally, you can configure page layout with new multi-column sections, drag-and-drop authoring with a range of richly functional web parts, including an image gallery, interactive Bing maps, videos from a Microsoft Stream channel and a new events web part.
Yammer, when added to a communication site brings a conversational layer to the intranet, so you can drive employee engagement and share best practices across the organization on the web, desktop and mobile.
Share, embed, view and discuss videos from Office 365 Video and Microsoft Stream directly within Yammer conversations and include security controls and infrastructure to keep valuable information secure. To share a video from Office 365 Video or Microsoft Stream, copy URL of the video and paste it into Yammer conversation either as a reply or post.
Discuss relevant information from third-party apps and services using Connectors in Yammer, that allow you to configure automatic posts to groups from a wide variety of tools, such as news and social media sources like Bing News and Twitter, developer tools including GitHub and PagerDuty, and project management tools like Trello and Asana.
Anyone in the group can add or delete a connector in Yammer, simply click Add or Remove Apps under Group Actions on the right of group’s feed, then follow instructions on how to add the connector.
Keep group membership up to date by enabling dynamic groups in Yammer, which are Office 365 groups with membership defined as a rule, rather than as a static list of members, in Azure Active Directory.
To create a group with dynamic membership in Yammer, an Office 365 administrator will need to sign in to the Azure portal, select the Yammer group to configure and set up the membership rules for that group.
Connect wherever you do your best work with new Yammer apps for iPad, Windows and Mac, which brings a richer navigation and group experience, as well as universal search capabilities.
The new app will enable automatic sign-in and will have a similar look and feel as the current browser experience. Organizations will also be able to broadly deploy the desktop app through central management.

Microsoft also deepen SharePoint integration with Microsoft Flow with new built-in approval flows that let send any document for approval with a custom message. The recipient can approve the request directly from a rich, actionable email message, so approval and feedback can be given without leaving your inbox.
Also, a more personalized search that leverages deep machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) from Microsoft Graph to quickly provide more relevant and valuable results that include people whose skills, interests and projects—part of their Office 365 profile—are relevant to your query.
These search results also activate people cards, so user can learn at a glance about a person and their work, and can also get an extended view of richly detailed information from user’s profile with just another click.
Additionally, a new SharePoint administration center coming later in the fourth quarter of 2017, and enhancements for better connecting SharePoint team sites with other Office 365 content and services will be rolling later this year.
“These developments build upon the vision we unveiled last year, and have been delivering on since, with innovations to reinvent content collaboration and usher in a new generation of mobile and intelligent intranets,” writes
Microsoft’s Jeff Teper also share some statistics around Office 365 and SharePoint said, “Office 365 currently has more than 100 million monthly active users.” For adoption of SharePointm, he said that more than 250,000 organizations and over 85 percent of Fortune 500 companies now have SharePoint as part of Office 365.
And, just last year, SharePoint has grown to 90 percent usage, while content stored has grown 300 percent and more than 10 million new SharePoint sites have been created. Also, over 60 percent of SharePoint seats are now online, he said, reflecting the value customers see with SharePoint in Office 365.
Microsoft also today released a major update to OneNote app on iOS, bringing the version number to 16.0, you can now experience the re-designed look and feel of OneNote:
“It’s easier than ever to organize your notes with an improved layout. All of your notebooks, sections, and pages can be found in columns on the side of the app, efficiently navigable with screen readers, keyboards, and more.’
