Microsoft Teams for Office 365 Arrives with Email, New Bots Around the World

Microsoft Teams is now generally available — and MAM enabled on iOS and Android!

Microsoft Teams, a chat-based workplace in Office 365, is generally available Tuesday in across the globe 181 markets and 19 languages.

In addition, Teams apps are now enabled with Intune MAM capabilities ensuring protected conversations and corporate data is protected as teams work freely across devices. For now, support for Microsoft Teams in the Intune admin console is currently being rolled out.

The Teams apps also supports Intune MAM app-level data protection with or without MDM device enrollment.

Microsoft Teams, which is a chat-based workspace in Office 365, beyond threaded and persistent chat, it gives you access to the built int tools like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, SharePoint and Power BI, so you're never more than a click away from getting things done.

Additionally, scheduling features make meetings easier, and Microsoft Teams can be customized with Tabs, Connectors and Bots. Todau, over 150 integrations are available or "coming soon," including Bots from hipmunk, Growbot and ModuleQ.

Here are other enhancements made recently:

  • support for open, public teams within an organization,
  • enhanced meeting experience with scheduling capabilities,
  • integrating free/busy calendar availability for team members,
  • added recurrence for easier transition from chat to high-quality voice and video.

Teams also comes including with "audio calling from mobile devices, video for Android, ability to send attachments, and messages with markdown-based formatting" on Android [coming soon to iOS and Windows Phone]. And, it is also enabled with mobile application management (MAM) on iOS and Android.

The Teams also added the ability to email a channel, including attachments, send messages with markdown-based formatting, and receive notifications about all posts in a channel.

"With the Teams apps for iOS and Android, work gets done anywhere –you can collaborate with partners and contribute to projects, even on the go,' wrties Office team.

Microsoft notes, that since preview in November last year, more than 50,000 organizations, plus 85 million active users have started using Teams, and over 100 new features are already delivered.

Finally, Teams also deliver advanced security and compliance capabilities with support for global standards, including SOC 1, SOC 2, EU Model Clauses, ISO27001 and HIPAA.

Also support for audit log search, eDiscovery and legal hold for channels, chats and files as well as mobile application management with Microsoft Intune is added.
