SharePoint Newsfeed app for Windows 8, Windows Phone and iOS devices is now available for SharePoint 2013 users and for SharePoint Online users in Office 365.
The "Newsfeed app" allows you to interact with your organization's SharePoint social network while on the go. You can easily navigate your feeds and participate in conversations on your company feed or in the SharePoint sites you are following. "Customers who select Yammer as their social network in Office 365 can use the Yammer app to participate in their conversations," informs Microsoft.
SharePoint Newsfeed for Windows Store supports SharePoint 2013 on-premises. "Connection to SharePoint 2013 on-premises Newsfeed requires you to be within your domain network or to be using a remote technology like Windows Server 2012 DirectAccess. Previous versions of SharePoint are not supported," added company.
Also, Microsoft is highlighting how Internet Explorer 11 available in the Windows 8.1 Preview is the best choice when it comes to daily web browsing.
"IE11 on Windows 8.1 enables the best daily browsing experience across your devices for getting to your sites quickly and using them together with Windows Store apps in Windows 8.1," stated IE team blog. "Browsing feels fast, fluid and perfect for touch with many tabs, richer suggestions, organized favorites and side-by-side experiences for comparing sites and using sites with Windows Store apps together," stated IE team blog.
Among others, probably the best feature of the IE11 is its "support of a maximum of 100 tabs in per window in Metro mode" with super-fast performance and tabs that haven't been used recently "won't use your system resources or drain your battery."
Access tabs from any Windows 8.1 connected device to pick up where you left off.
To easily get to all your tabs just swipe from the bottom edge of your screen (right click with the mouse or Window+Z from the keyboard). The address bar and tabs don't cover up important page navigation menus and search boxes found at the top of most sites. And with all the browser UI at the bottom, you can focus on one part of the screen for all your browsing needs.
Many users prefer to see their tabs and address bar on screen at all times, for this you can choose to keep this UI on screen by switching on the "Always show address bar and tabs" option in Settings.
- IE11 also instantly presents you with a list of frequent sites you are likely to visit when intentded to navigate, like tapping on the address bar or making a new tab.
- Personalized and Organized: Favorites can be organized into folders and site images can be chosen to best represent your favorite sites.
- IE11 also makes using your favorite sites and your favorite Windows Store apps better together.
