Volume 7 of Microsoft Security Intelligence Report (SIRv7) provides an in-depth perspective on malicious and potentially unwanted software, software exploits, security breaches and software vulnerabilities (both in Microsoft software and in third-party software). Microsoft developed these perspectives based on detailed analysis over the past several years, with a focus on the first half of 2009. The first thing that struck me while reading through report’s that for first time, SIR shares some high-level security best practices from countries that’ve consistently exhibited low malware infection. For e.g., Japan, Austria and Germany's infection rates remained relatively low during first half of this year.
