Responding to The Daily's latest Office on iPad story, accompaying a couple of photos, revealing a Metro type UI, as well as support for editing Word, Excel and PowerPoint presentations locally or online -- a Microsoft spokesperson claimed that these the alleged Office on iPad photo is fake, saying that;
"The Daily story is based on inaccurate rumors and speculation." This may come as a bit of a blow to those who were looking forward to Office on the iPad.
The Daily's Ha denied the image was fabricated by the publication. Not only that -- Ha says it was a Softie who demo'd the Office on iPad app to them.
Currently, Microsoft is preparing to launch Office 15 on Windows, with available support for Windows on ARM (WOA) which should allow you to edit your office documents on a Windows 8 tablet. All WOA devices will receive Office 15 pre-installed, which will only be exclusive to WOA tablets.
If the Daily is right, Microsoft's Office for iPad could be launching well ahead of Office for Windows 8 on ARM tablets.
A previous report indicated that Microsoft was working on an Office app for the iPad and that it would be released sometime this year.
"An exact launch date is unknown, but the design team has since wrapped up the project, meaning it could be released in the coming weeks," the report states.
