Microsoft is preparing to make a new round of job cuts as early as July 7. The unconfirmed number of cuts are relatively small, and is to keep a tight rein on companies expenses and overall headcount.
“Microsoft worldwide employed 88,596 people as of the end of June 2010, including 39,824 in Seattle region. That was up slightly from 88,180 worldwide and 39,738 in local region at March end, but still down from 91,743 worldwide and 40,210 in Seattle area at July end last year. The numbers don’t include company’s substantial contract work force, employed through third-party vendors.”
