Microsoft acquired Sentillion Inc., a privately held company specializing in software for the healthcare industry. The acquisition brings the Sentillion team and products to the Microsoft Health Solutions Group led by Corporate Vice President Peter Neupert. Operating out of its offices in Andover, Mass., the Sentillion team will continue to sell and support its product line while Microsoft invests in the long-term evolution of the combined Sentillion and Microsoft health solutions. By combining Sentillion’s context management and single sign-on technologies with Amalga Unified Intelligence System (UIS), a real-time data aggregation solution, Microsoft’s goal is to give clinicians new insight about patients in real time and enable them to perform the appropriate task with unprecedented speed. At the same time, the workflow of clinicians will be simplified, allowing them to spend less time navigating different IT systems and more time with patients. Microsoft also will further explore synergies between Sentillion technologies and Microsoft’s identity and access management solutions, including Microsoft Forefront Identity Manager 2010.
