Microsoft Solution Accelerators team made the version 8.0 of the Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP) available for download.

Microsoft Assessment and Planning Toolkit (MAP) is an agentless, automated, multi-product planning and assessment tool for quicker and easier desktop, server and cloud migrations.

"MAP also provides server utilization data for Hyper-V server virtualization planning; identifying server placements, and performing virtualization candidate assessments, including ROI analysis for server consolidation with Hyper-V," the company stated.

MAP Toolkit v8.0 includes the following components:

  • "Microsoft_Assessment_and_Planning_Toolkit_Setup.exe. Installation package containing the tool, release notes, Getting Started Guide and toolkit help (chm file).
  • readme_en.htm. Available as a separate download. Provides information to read before installing the MAP Toolkit, including installation prerequisites and known issues.
  • Getting_Started_Guide.en.doc. Provides information about toolkit installation, environment preparation, and assessment scenarios supported by toolkit wizards and the UI.
  • Available as a separate download. Contains sample reports and proposals," informs Microsoft.

Windows Server 2012 Remote Desktop Services showcase videos now available focus on a specific area and include demos to help explain the key features.

It looks like Microsoft is still dealing with some growing pains with its online email service.

Following, a large number of subscribers complaining of getting error messages that reads "too many devices syncing with this account" when they tried their Exchange ActiveSync accounts with modern designed email service Outlook 2013-said in its Answers forum "if you are experiencing the device limit error and you are not connecting to Hotmail please post to the respective forums, along with your email accounts."

"Once we have your email account, we would be deleting the deltasych relationship of your email account with the devices you've attached to it. This would be done in the backend, however you will need to reconfigure your account on your devices. Of course, we'll let you know once we've carried out the backend process," stated Microsof.

Microsoft notes that its is working to fix the issue, and suggests the following steps to resolve the error meanwhile, "You can make the following changes once we've fixed your account in the backend to prevent this error from happening again," the company said.

  1. "Change the # the of days for which you keep your devices synched with email (we recommend you synch 3 days of emails and not more than that)
    • Go to Settings
    • Mail , Contacts, Calendars
    • Choose your account and tap on Mail Days to Sync
  2. Try to remove folders from your Hotmail account or reduce the number of devices that were synced to your account," the company explains.

Microsoft also posted two video showcasing how to use SkyDrive with Office and How Skype works in classrooms.

The first video below show "How SkyDrive works with Office"-- "Store any file on your SkyDrive and it's automatically available on your PCs, Macs, and mobile devices. In this week's webinar, we'll show you how to work and share with 7GB of free storage in your own private cloud," the company said.

In this second video, Tony Bates, president of Skype at Microsoft, some of the social innovations Skype is involved with, including Skype in the classroom.
