Ajaxian —”Laszlo Systems, the original developer of OpenLaszlo, the leading open source platform for building and deploying advanced Ajax applications, today announced the completion of an $8 million Series C round of funding. New investor WI Harper Group led the round, joining existing investors General Catalyst Partners, Sofinnova Ventures, Mitsui & Co. Venture Partners, and other private investors. Laszlo will use this round of funding to expand its sales and marketing initiatives, accelerate platform and product development efforts, and further strategic partner programs.”
Currently Laszlo Systems working on their project called “Legals” —which is an OpenLaszlo project to provide a single application environment that supports multiple deployment runtimes. OpenLaszlo 3.x supports Flash 7 and 8 now, but Legals will extend that reach to include DHTML as well as Flash 9. And with the necessary infrastructure in place, we anticipate further runtimes will be developed by the OpenLaszlo community.
OpenLaszlo is an open source platform for creating zero-install web applications with the user interface capabilities of desktop client software.
OpenLaszlo is write once run everywhere. An OpenLaszlo application developed on one machine will run on all leading Web browsers on all leading desktop operating systems.
