The whole purpose of going to Lala is to stream free music, and soon that function will be taken away. Apple has announced it will be shutting down its online music service Lala on May 31. If you visit the site your greeted with “Lala is shutting down The Lala service will be shut down on May 31st, 2010. Unfortunately, we are no longer accepting new users.” message. Apple bought Lala in December 2009 and is clearly up to something—no new members are currently being accepted to the site. Speculation is mounting that Lala’s functionality will be integrated into iTunes to form Apple’s own streaming service. TechCrunch believes that Apple is finally ready to roll out their iTunes in the cloud service but they may delay the launch of their new service until June 7 at the World Wide Developers Conference.
