Office 365 administration experience continues improving further now as part of January update include enhanced setup access and guidance, a new Yammer device usage report. Also, rolled out along with is a new OneDrive admin center to all customers.
Below is a summary of January updates:
First up, the new Setup section located on the navigation menu providing access to all settings in a single place with improved and detailed step-by-step setup guidance for various services—including OneDrive, Office Pro Plus, SharePoint and Hybrid for Exchange Online.
Using the new Products page, admins can quickly see the mumber of available licenses and which software products are included in each of their subscriptions.
Admins can now update or modify domain or access frequent domain releated tasks such as adding a domain, deleting a domain or checking the health of a domain at any point directly from the new domains page.
Data Migration page provides admins with automation tools and step-by-step guidance to migrate data from on-premises or other cloud services to Office 365, including migrating from your local Exchange server or Google.
New Yammer usage insights report added to the Office 365 admin center, gives a breakdown of activity across web and mobile clients, and let admins see device types commonly used by people in the organization.
The report can be accessed by “clicking Usage from the admin center home page and then select Yammer device usage from the dropdown list at the top of the page.”
Finally, new OneDrive for Business admin center reaches general availability controls how a user accesses files in OneDrive—across device, location and app. Additionally the new admin center also include improved sync, storage and device access settings.
It can be accessed by clicking on Admin Centers and then OneDrive in the left navigation.
In addition, new filter capabilities added to the Active users page allows admins to easily view and manage guest users.
Further, the Office team notes, that more reports focusing on which clients are used to access SharePoint and OneDrive for Business will be coming in the next few months.
Additionally, Office 365 adoption content pack in Power BI along with new public APIs to programmatically access usage data and integrate it into custom applications, like a company reporting portal will be made available to all customers.
A new Office 2016 Insider Preview version 1701 build 7766.2039 released today in the Slow ring brings the following updates:
- Collaborate on attachments in real time: Uploading email attachments to OneDrive lets everyone work on the latest version of the file.
