Google Pack -- a collection of free programs for Windows users alwyas included essential apps, including tools for working with digital photos, communicating with friends, and, of course, Google toolbars for Firefox and Internet Explorer.
An antivirus program has also been part of the Pack, and until very recently Avast! was the app of choice. But more, now, Canadian-made "Immunet" has replaced the Avast! and got added as the deafult app to the bundle. Avast is still offered, but Immunet is now one of the default apps -- select company which only includes Google's own apps and Adobe Reader.
To be included in that group is a big deal for the antivirus upstart, considering Immunet has only been available to download since August 2009. This is the company's second big win in 2011, having already gained a big boost in terms of enterprise credibility when it was acquired by Sourcefire.
