Gulf of Mexico oil spill: NASAs’ updated MODIS satellites imagery

As estimated at least 6 million gallons of oil have leaked into Gulf of Mexico since Deepwater Horizon explosion. Cleanup efforts are underway, bu oil has spread extensively around Gulf and along southern U.S. coastline, and has begun washing up on beaches of Louisiana and delicate wetlands along Mississippi River, and can spread to Florida and throughout Gulf as weather change. Following sequence of images, coming from NASA’s MODIS satellites, illustrates ‘movement and growth’ of oil slick over past few weeks:
