Google is now serving a new 404 error page that's displayed when you type a Google address that can't be found (for example: google.com/hosting). It includes a robot with the message "404. That's an error. The requested URL /blah was not found on this server. That's all we know."

Also interesting is that if you type in google.com/android, you'd think Google would redirect users to http://www.google.com/mobile/android/, or offer some sort of guidance to help people find what they were looking for. But no.

Is not that, Google breaking its own rules for creating useful 404 pages to "help people find the information they're looking for, as well as providing other helpful content and encouraging them to explore your site further."

Back in December, Google had introduced a custom page "Whale Fail":
