Google Webmaster Tools now has received a facelift based on the Google+ look and feel. The new look large gray and white interface augments the new functionality which include a new look to the dashboard, redesigned menus, updated navigation and a style that more tightly integrates with other Google properties.
The Google Webmaster Tools home page lists all the sites you're authorized to manage in Webmaster Tools. When viewing your list of sites, you can select a "Comfortable" or "Compact" view modes for controlling the how compact the lines appear on your screen. Google calls this the "Display Density" settings.
The new dashboard is the first page you typically see when you click through to manage a site. In this view, you are able to see crawl errors, search search queries, sitemap indexing, DNS errors.
You also now have the ability to sort sites alphabetically as well as "By site health," to help you view the sites that have the most issues first.
The new message center labeled "New and Important" at the top of the page, quickly help you see the Webmaster Tools spam team notification.
The left sidebare menus have been redesigned and now has more meaningful groups, each of which have tasks or reports related to the functionality inlcuding:
- Configuration: Things you configure and generally don't change very often.
- Health: Where you look to make sure things are OK.
- Traffic: Where you go to understand how your site is doing in Google search, who's linking to you; where you can explore the data about your site.
- Optimization: Where you can find ideas to enhance your site, which enables us to better understand and represent your site in search and other services.
With all the recent concerns over link profiles and notes Google has left for Webmasters.
