Following Nielsen, Hitwise released search metrics for December 2009 “Google accounted for 72.25% of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending Jan. 2, 2010. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com received 14.83%, 8.92% and 2.54%, respectively. The remaining 66 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.48% of U.S. searches.” Hitwise also pointed out that Google has been driving more traffic to key U.S. industries while Bing’s stat showed biggest leap in terms of driving traffic to these key industry categories.
