Google tops with 72% of US searches in Dec 2009, Hitwise

Following Nielsen, Hitwise released search metrics for December 2009 “Google accounted for 72.25% of all U.S. searches conducted in the four weeks ending Jan. 2, 2010. Yahoo! Search, Bing and Ask.com received 14.83%, 8.92% and 2.54%, respectively. The remaining 66 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.48% of U.S. searches.” […]

Search, Bing and Ask.com received 14.83%, 8.92% and 2.54%, respectively. The remaining 66 search engines in the Hitwise Search Engine Analysis Tool accounted for 1.48% of U.S. searches.” Hitwise also pointed out that Google has been driving more traffic to key U.S. industries while Bing’s stat showed biggest leap in terms of driving traffic to these key industry categories. Specifically Google has been sending most traffic to Automotive, Shopping and Travel Categories. While Bing's good at sending traffic to all four categories and Yahoo in Shopping category.
