It’s reported that Google is testing a new search interface that updates the results underneath as you type a query —Google constantly retrieves the search results for your search query, without having to press Enter or clicking “Search” button. “Rob Ousbey, who spotted this interface calls it “live updating Google search results”, Google uses the word “streaming”, while others may call it “instant search or incremental search”.
Here’s how to try it out: “Open the Google homepage and start typing. Previously, the screen didn’t shift. Now, though, as soon as you start typing, Google shifts the search box to the top of the page, and displays ads to the right and distracting search results below.” The new UI can be disabled by clicking on “turn off streaming” next to the search box.
Google has confirmed to TechCrunch that the above video is real. Gabriel Stricker, Google spokesperson said “At any given time we’re running between 50-200 search experiments.” More on “This is a test. This is only a test.“.
